And you know doing that in the long term can really help it be very positive for your overall health because as we know that the feeling of your body is very closely related to the function of your body and how everything you know operates it is situated in the body affects the nerves all around you know it coming compasses the body. So when we have a pain or an ache or any type of dysfunction or a body and you know we sit a certain way or we’re resting in a certain way for lack of rest things like lack of sleep proper you know lack of proper nutrition you’re not getting the nutrients and vitamins and micronutrients micronutrients that you need for your body to be able to function then that’s where the problem kind of rest because you know all of these things have to be in order and have to be aligned to feel great and function great. And you know we’re here at Healthworks chiropractic to guide you along the way and maybe teach you some of these things that you may have not known about your body and show you how closely related that the feeling of your body to the function of your body is.
So you know let’s say let’s take somebody who has you know their scapula at a Tennessee Murfreesboro Chiropractor your shoulder blade. It’s kind of protruding out and it’s rotated upwards. So our goal to correct this. It’s known as a winged scapula. When the muscles and here your packs in their anterior deltoids are the front portion of your shoulder are so tight and tonic that they’re going to pull that shoulder forward and your hand is almost going to rotate inward. So your thumbs are pointing down towards the ground. And that’s going to put your shoulder in what’s known as internal rotation and what that does is it puts a lot of strain and stress on the supporting muscles of your shoulder and your rotator cuff can lead to things like headaches Impingement Syndrome with a shoulder rotator cuff cares more severely. You know if you had this overly internally rotated posture it’s going to affect a lot in your body especially if it’s on both sides bilateral wings scapula or you know just a lateral or the side portion of your scapula. It’s going to it’s going to really affect your feeling and your function of your body you’re going to be lack of range of motion. So our job is to you know get that scapula in a proper position and how we do that is if you pull a Stapel or the shoulder blade down and back kind of like a swooping motion under you know we can just kind of process this fall on the shoulders down and back. You always hear that it’s kind of an old school method to keep in proper posture.
Another thing that we can add to it too as well is kind of rotating the shoulder up back down and keeping a nice long neck and keeping that in front of our body keeping our chin in a neutral position is beneficial and we can also externally rotate the hands. Tennessee Murfreesboro Chiropractor So if you feel like your thumbs are kind of pointing towards the ground rotate them out even if it’s a palm side. You can kind of realign your posture this way. It’s like a reset position. You know it takes the body over long time to get this patterning green. So the more we do it the better we’ll kind of get out of that dysfunction. In that horrible pattern for our body. You know that’s one area that has a lot of dysfunction as the scapula and the shoulder area because it controls so much of her upper body. Another thing that we kind of alluded to was that the neck and you know you see this a lot with you know people nowadays they have their head of protruded forward as opposed to in a neutral position always look with your your eyes and not your neck. So you know this comes from you know cell phones and laptops and different devices video games where you have that head way out in front of you and you may not even notice it you’re kind of slumped forward. This can this can greatly affect your body because it can inhibit a deep diaphragmatic breath. You know we need oxygen to get her body you know two more oxygen or a body and there’s better function because she can heal a little bit faster.
Our body just functions overall better when we get a good deep breath and control our breathing and for that matter. So it’s it’s imperative that we keep that neck in a neutral position as best as we can and we also can you know some of the muscles in the front portion of Tennessee Murfreesboro Chiropractor our neck like the old Floyd mastoid muscles and the scalings all these muscles can kind of get a little tense and tight from that overly flex position of the neck. So what we can do is we can we can a long gate those areas so we stretch those areas out you know a simple way of doing this is to stretch the muscles out the front portion of your neck to the side side both sides kind of change different angles. Looking up the side the front side and give those muscles one gated. And what we want to do because the area and our neck or the back portion of our muscles like traps and the shoulder blades like the scaffold thing we’re talking about it it’s going to become overstretch. So what we have to do is find the right balance in tension to support our head on our shoulders so chin tugs more giving yourself like a double chin and doing that by three times a day. About ten repetitions each time that you do it it can severely you know decrease your likelihood to injure these carriers are strained these muscles. Has that that perfect balance. Between tension and slack so our bodies always kind of this constant areas especially with things that stabilize our body like our shoulders our knees or ankles.
The stability kind of joints you know we want to make sure that there’s a right amount of Tennessee Murfreesboro Chiropractor attention and are right enough enough slack to help keep these areas in a proper position. And when they get out of position it’s going to create a lot of dysfunction. So that’s some of the stuff that you can do just for kind of two basic areas there that can that can certainly help you know decrease the likelihood of injury and increase function and feeling in those areas.
