Stiffness And Tightness In The Neck | Healthworks Chiropractic | Smart Devices
Today at Healthworks chiropractic we want to talk about stiffness and tightness in the neck and how that directly correlates to what you may be doing right now. And that’s looking at your phone. You know with the popularity of phones in the last I’d say 10 to 15 years. You know we’re seeing a lot of degenerative changes especially kids that are younger and younger that get these these these iPhone’s smartphones and tablets and things like that you know they’re not holding their heads at proper positions because the most relaxed position that we become accustomed to with our cell phones while we’re texting or looking at Facebook or Instagram or whatever is to be looking down and you know a lot of time this is a lot of time this will create stiffness and tightness in the neck and it will cause around knee forward of our shoulders which can do a lot of different things not just creating stiffness and tightness in the neck but also it can create stiffness and tightness in the front portion of the shoulder in the chest. The pack is going to shorten the path. So in a sense it can actually you know kind of restricts your breathing a bit because your chest you take a good deep breath in from the diaphragm from the stomach rather than you know up in the chest breathing up to the chest tighten everything in the neck the shoulders. What have you. You know if you already have this rounded forward posture and you breathe from your chest it’s also going to hurt. It’s also can restrict your breathing just a bit.
So our job here at Healthworks Chiropractic is to alleviate a lot of that and to help you live a pain free life. You know in general that’s what we want to do at Healthworks chiropractic and that is that is our whole goal from the start is to help you function and feel better. Because as we know function and feeling there are very very closely related. And you know if you’re looking at your phone constantly you seem to be getting stiffness and tightness in the neck. We see we’re seeing more and more of this and in younger children the younger population because they’ve grown up with these last and these last 10 to 15 years they’ve they’ve grown up with these phones and tablets. And it’s going to cause a lot of pain for them in the future and degenerative changes we’re just going to we’re not just going to evolve to where our head is looking down and facing down our body has a structure it needs to maintain. And if we don’t have that structural integrity to hold our head in line with our shoulders you know how have you. There are some genetic things in deformities that can happen to where this isn’t the case but ideally if your fear a fairly healthy individual we want to make sure that your muscles and your spine are healthy. You know we always make the analogy your spine is like your teeth. You know you can see your teeth so you brush them every day. Keep them healthy. If we were able to see our spines here our spinal hell we would be able to maintain a little bit better because it would be right in front of us.

Do you know someone who is always on their phone? Perhaps they spend all day playing Fortnite and looking down at a screen all day. We see this a lot in our office, and as technology grows we want to help counteract “text neck”! In this video Dr. Cullen goes over this all too common condition. #chiropractic #textneck #murfreesborotn #franklintn #healthworkschiropractic
So it’s imperative if you’re getting stiffness and tightness in the neck to help do the things that maintain your spine and your neck. And you know getting regular adjustments or health works chiropractic can certainly help with those things. We believe that regular adjustments can help with things like headaches stiffness and tightness in the neck. All these different factors that kind of play into why you’re getting this stiffness and tightness in the neck could be why you’re looking at your phone or tablet or anything while you’re looking down excessively. So the more we educate people on the proper position of their hand and how it should feel the more we’re going to combat this problem of stiffness and tightness in the neck. And when we solve that problem we want to make sure it’s there for the long term. We want to make sure the cues that we give you exercises that we give you and the adjustments that we give you hold the longest now possible. And at Healthworks chiropractor who we believe we can help with these types of things to help correct these these Postrel imbalances that are plaguing so many and the younger children too. You know we got to think about the kids and their future of their necks that we’re going to see a lot more dysfunction if these these things continue. We don’t educate people on Palm proper posture especially in a very young age it should be something that’s definitely incorporated into physical education and is proper position of the head. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. Technology isn’t a bad thing but it could potentially be a bad thing for our spine and our neck.
And I you know are related to something personally I have a nephew that’s 11 years old and he gets a lot of headaches but he’s also constantly looking down at his phone. And you know if we can correct these these things like proper position like looking with your your eyes as opposed to your head in your neck looking out for position you know we can help solve these things that we want to help people feel better function better and get out of pain and live out of pain and feel what it’s like to have that range of motion you nag in your head and be comfortable for once we get a good night’s rest and be able to repair your body properly and if you’re getting the stiffness and tightness in the neck or your child is giving the stiffness and tightness in the neck it’s time to look at the posture of the body and what we’re anatomically supposed to look out look like. You can do that by looking up. Go into google and type in anatomical position and you can see kind of how the body is probably supposed to be aligned. And there’s a lot of different factors that play into this and we get into patterns with our body the more of these patterns happen the more they’re going to become habits. And when we get bad habits that’s when the pain is going to start to calm and sometimes we don’t catch it fast enough. And that’s what we want to do at Healthworks chiropractic. We want to help people live better feel better function better all around.
We want to have a complete system that can help you feel better and we feel like we can do that. Health Works chiropractic.
